Writers

Candidates should have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of AP Style formatting

  • Standard blogging skills

  • Quality writing (lack of spelling/grammatical errors)

  • Ability to adapt tone/style of IOWVW and follow company-specific style guide

  • Proficiency in Google Docs and/or MS Word

  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow directions

  • Ability to find and incorporate statistics and research into written work

  • Knowledge of free-use photo sites that adhere to FCC guidelines

Writers will have the following duties:

  • Research, pitch and create various types of written content related to victim services, victim advocacy and/or criminal justice.

  • Create written content for assigned topics.

  • Adhere to AP Style formatting, as well as the IOWVW style-guide.

  • Source images from authorized free-use sites.

  • Meet assigned deadlines and create quality content within that time frame.

  • Make adjustments to content as recommended by editors. 

  • Maintain consistent, timely communication with editors and social media coordinators.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Editors

Interested candidates should email Royall Bryan with a resume.

Candidates should have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of AP Style formatting

  • Knowledge of WordPress blog formatting

  • Proficiency in Google Docs and/or MS Word

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Forms, & Analytics

  • Ability to ensure written & submitted work adheres to company-specific style-guide/tone

  • Ability to engage positively with writers, including answering to guest submission requests

  • Desire to put forward quality content

  • Can meet deadlines in a timely fashion

  • At least some knowledge of proper free-use photo sites to ensure writers procure images from correct sources

 

Editors will have the following duties:

  • Process guest submission requests to determine whether the work would match the mission and goals of the blog.

  • Respond to guest submission requests, including creating deadlines and assisting with content creation. 

  • Read through submitted work (guest & non-guest) to ensure proper grammatical & style structure.

  • Schedule content to go live on site. 

  • Provide timely & quality feedback to writers on their work through Google Docs or MS Word.

  • Consistently update editorial calendar to ensure clear communication between writers, editors, and social media interns.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Social Media Coordinators

Interested Candidates should email Royall Bryan with a resume.

Candidates should have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of social media channels, such as Facebook and Twitter (especially for business pages)

  • Knowledge of AP Style formatting (including grammar/style)

  • Ability to craft unique, catchy captions for social media posts

  • Creative and innovative ideas for reaching diverse populations of people with minimal budget

  • Ability to promote items using B2C marketing skills

  • Proficiency in G-Suite programs, such as Docs, Sheets & Analytics

 

Social Media Coordinators will have the following duties:

  • Disseminate published content on Facebook and Twitter from the IOWVW blog.

  • Monitor post views and interactions on social media channels.

  • Schedule content on social media channels to go live during times where viewers are most likely to interact. 

  • Analyze views on blog posts to determine which blogs need the most promotion on social media. 

  • Update editorial calendar to include social media links and update post performance.

  • Communicate with editors and writers which content receives the most views and interactions. 

  • Encourage IOWVW blog team members to promote posts across personal social media.

  • Provide agency partners access to their posted content for approval prior to publishing. 

  • Provide guest submitters with links to the social media posts of their work once published.

  • Any other duties as assigned.
